Zero Zero Is The Place To Party on Saturday Night

It is finally summer in Brazil, and it is HOT! Seriously, if you think New York in the summer is painfully hot (which I agree can be pretty scorching sometimes), Rio has it beat.  After hanging at the beach all Saturday how should you spend the rest of your afternoon and evening?  Head over to Zero Zero located next to the Gavea PlanetariumThe “After Beach Party” starts around 5pm and goes till 9pm with live music in the outdoor garden (see above).  It gets pretty crazy so if you are one of those people that was just hoping for an after beach beer, stick with Clipper.  If you aren’t ready for a full on after beach party, head home take a nap, whip out your ‘clubbin’ (ie extremely inappropriate for a business dinner outfit-think shorter / more revealing the better!) and head over to Zero Zero around 9:30pm to start your night. When you arrive (and pass through the metal detector and get scanned) you will receive your drink card which you will use to pay for your entire night (even dinner).Walk through the inside club area to get to the restaurant (above), which is very ‘trendy’ and offers an extensive drink menu, a Japanese menu (ie sushi) and a regular menu with sandwiches, pastas, and salads.  I must say the sushi was great, but it was the Thai shrimp with grilled pineapple and coconut rice that should not be skipped!  The music from the club  starts blasting around 10pm, so I hope you like base with your meal, your body will be vibrating while you are finishing up your dinner, so hold on to your drink! After dinner, grab a drink and party in the club. Some of Rio’s best DJs spin here.  I was there on a hip hop/ 90’s dance party night and it was a blast!  The projections and lighting change according to music so you feel like you are actually at a live performance.  Your feet need a break? Exit the club area through the revolving door and find a seat on one of the large plush couches in the outdoor garden.  FYI There is a cover charge (even if you are just going for dinner) of R$60 for men and R$30 for women.  A typical Saturday night out with your significant other – cover charge, dinner, drinks and dancing, will run you about R$400.  It is totally worth it, Zero Zero is an absolute blast and the perfect place for a date night or a group night out.  Staying in Rio this weekend? Head over to Zero Zero!
