While in São Paulo this weekend, I stayed at the Hotel Unique and I must say, it is very unique. The hotel was created by architectural genius Ruy Ohtake who made this boat shape or watermelon, not just a ‘unique’ hotel but also an urban work of art.
When you enter the Unique, you will be surprised as to how high the ceilings really are, with large glass windows it almost feels like you are walking through a solarium. There is a library with a variety of comfy chairs to choose from as well as over 300 books on art and architecture to peruse. On this level there is also a small restaurant/bar that people use for meetings or ‘working lunches’ as it is a more ‘quite scene’.
The rooms are comfy with a funky modern twist. Rinse off in style under a rain shower with your BVLGARI soaps or sink into a nice jacuzzi bubble bath. Want to bring some entertainment to your bubble bath? Lift open the divider (shown below) and you can watch a movie or tv while you relax in the tub, obviously I had to try it, and yes it was awesome! (sorry the pics aren’t ‘blog’ appropriate) but you get the idea.
Now that you are ‘fresh and clean’ head up to the roof; take a swim, relax on one of the white day beds, order one of the many creative drinks or enjoy a mouth watering culinary experience while looking out onto one of the best views of Ibirapuera Park and the entire São Paulo skyline. Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but the pool is crimson red with an underwater sound system …..very uniqueThe Skye Bar and Restaurant is quite the scene and Chef Emmanuel Bassoleil has created an eclectic menu blending Brazilian, French, Italian and Japanese to match it. The food was superb, I had sushi and plantain chips with tuna (which was outstanding), definitely hit my ‘sushi craving’. Late night, pizza was the popular dish with almost every table surrounding us. The bar is a very sophisticated trendy (almost New York) scene; far from Rio’s casual look. You can easily spot every fashion trend on this roof top with one glance around the room. Ladies, that means pack your Louboutin‘s and chic outfit if you want to fit in with this high end crowd.
‘Hotel Unique is a living, breathing part of the city of São Paulo, a place where architecture, art, design, fashion, gastronomy, music and exquisite service are at the heart of a groundbreaking hotel culture that delights and inspires each of our guests.’
The spa is SO incredible you will have to wait to read about it in my next post!
