Where to eat in São Cristóvão: Adegão Portuguese

If you are heading over to Feira Sao Cristavo, I highly recommend not filling up on all of the Northeaster ‘treats’, and having lunch at Adegão Portuguese right across the street.  Adegão  has a very traditional comfortable atmosphere perfect for a business luncheon or a family meal.  I recommend going with a group or very hungry as the portions are enormous.  Individual dishes cost between R$60-R$85 but can easily feed 3-4 people!  The menu offers a variety of traditional Brazilian dishes as well as a large list of their house special, bacalhau (cod fish). I went with the sole served with broccoli rice and banana farofa (below) which was good but surprisingly very filling.  READ sitting on the couch for the rest of the afternoon in food coma

If you are in Sao Cristavo, skip the feira for a good hearty lunch at Adegão
