Where to stay in Camocim Brazil

If you are interested in exploring the famous sand dunes in Brazil or going on a delta tour staying in Camocim will make all the activities and adventures you want to do very easy. Hotel Charme San Jose is a beautiful unexpected surprise, tucked away in this small rustic fishing village (read there isn’t much to do in town). The town itself has about 4000 people, and isn’t very developed but Hotel Charme is a true hidden gem. Enter through the vine covered walkway below and you will feel the serenity of the place immediately.

Originally the owner Sandra’s family home now turned pousada has unique layout and beautiful garden that will make you forget you are actually in a remote fishing village. The house consists of 4 suites, 4 Chalets and 2 Family Chalets, set in a magnificent tropical garden surrounded by banana trees. Each room has it’s own private outdoor area with couches, table and chairs; while some of the rooms even have outdoor showers (see pics below).

There is a lovely pool surrounded by gardens (above) next to the restaurant area (below). The food at the restaurant is incredible!! Honestly, I wouldn’t bother eating anywhere else in Camocim. Just tell Sandra what you would like in the morning (fish, meat or chicken) and she will prepare a delicious meal, truly some of the best dishes I have had in Brazil all for about R$50 per person.

Plus it’s really nice to eat by candle light in the midst of the garden by the pool. The staff is very friendly, and will offer you a lovely afternoon snack with fresh juice (below) when you arrive back from one of your adventure days. The hotel also provides bikes so you can ride around and explore the town and a small outdoor gym (below) located in the back of the garden which makes working out a very peaceful experience. Since the hotel is in the town and not directly on the beach they have a separate beach house about 30mins away so if you would rather spend your day hanging on the beach, doing water sports like kiting, standup paddle, kayaking or laying out, just ask for a transfer. After our buggy beach tour day (post coming next!) we spent the afternoon at this lovely beach house (below). The house was developed for guests seeking a more ‘rustic’ experience to comfortably enjoy the deserted beaches and lagoons of the region. It’s a great alternative if you would like to spend the night out on a deserted beach or have lunch/dinner out there, it was lovely and relaxing. Since I enjoyed everything about this hotel so much I have included a bunch of pictures below!
