Located about 70 miles (120 kms) from Fortaleza, Flecheiras is a simple, rustic fishing village with a lot of charm. The precious coral reefs offshore create splendid natural pools during the low tide, while the palm trees, lagoons, and endless sand dunes paint a unique picturesque scenery. The constant breeze makes the location ideal for wind related sports, such as kite surfing, and windsurfing.
This tropical paradise has remained largely untouched till now as they are now setting up a few exclusive resorts (FYI Where to stay in Flecheiras: Orixas Art Hotel Resort (below), top class restaurants to attract the discerning tourist. From Rede Beach have a buggy pick you up and drive (or walk the 5 miles) down the beach to Flecheiras, for lunch at one of the cute restaurants lining the beach (above).
Since everyone at our hotel recommended it, we went to Mare Alta, a beach front restaurant for lunch. As expected there were many grilled fish options as well as different moquecas, beef, chicken and pasta with almost everything being served w/rice,beans, fries or potatoes. Most dishes cost R$35-R$55 for 2 people. The food was very good but don’t expect to actually get what you order…my recommendation…. If you want something on the menu order something different and there’s a better chance you’ll get what you want;)
Spend the afternoon walking around the small town, sipping caipirinha’s on the beach and enjoy your vacation!
