Located at the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Chile’s Algarrobo city (45 mins from Santiago), is the worlds largest pool! It takes 40 minutes to walk from one end to the other, swimming across would be equivalent to 20 Olympic-sized swimming pools and it is filled with 66 million gallons of seawater. It also hold the Guinness record for the world’s deepest – 115ft to the bottom. Yea it is crazy big!
There are certain areas sectioned off for swimming (FYI the water is really cold!!) while the rest is for boats. Yes you are reading this correctly, sail boats, kayaks and canoes. There are a few giant trampolines, 3 private clubs which include gym, water slides and an indoor pool that is inside of the outdoor pool (see the triangle glass object in the picture above). There are also 3 restaurants on the property and you can take a quick walk to the others near by. It is about a 10min drive into the town area where you will find a huge supermarket. The term ‘resort’ is used a bit loosely as it is more of a mass complex of luxury apartments; we rented ours on airbnb which I highly recommend doing. The apartment was amazing, spacious, a large closed off balcony (which was fantastic as the strong winds can make it very chilly) and ours had a bbq so opted to grill for dinner. It is the perfect place for a relaxing, laid back vacation. Check out some of the awesome views/pictures from the worlds largest pool!
